Description
The VE operating swivel is designed to provide rotation of the drill string and supply drilling fluid during well servicing operations in oil and gas wells in temperate and cold (Region I) macroclimatic zones in accordance with GOST 16350-80.
The VE operating swivel consists of the following main components: swivel housing, stem, wash pipe, cover with side outlet, bail, nipple, main thrust roller bearing, upper tapered thrust roller bearing, lower radial ball bearing, upper mud lip seal, lower oil lip seal assembly, wash pipe O-ring seal, and wash pipe lip seal. The swivel housing also serves as the oil bath for the swivel bearings. Oil is filled through an opening in the cover, which is closed with a plug. The swivel bail is pivotally connected to the housing by pins inserted through the lugs of the housing and bail. The wash pipe outlet is fitted with a threaded connection for attaching an SB-60 quick hose coupling. The drill pipe tool joint nipple serves as the adapter for connecting the swivel to the drill string. The stem thread for the nipple and the nipple connection thread are left-hand. An inspection plug is provided to check the oil level in the oil bath. The sealing assemblies ensure leak-tight sealing of the oil bath, as well as the connection between the wash pipe and the cover with side outlet.
