Description
The KOT (Khalilov, KT) single-hinge pipe wrenches are designed for the make-up and break-out of oilfield tubing and couplings by gripping either the pipe body or the coupling, using either mechanized or manual operation during well servicing. They are intended for use in temperate and cold (Region I2) macroclimatic conditions in accordance with GOST 16350-80.
The KOT pipe wrench consists of a jaw pivotally connected to the handle by means of a pin secured to the handle with a special bolt. A die and a jaw insert with serrated working surfaces are installed in dovetail grooves in the jaw and handle, respectively. The die and jaw insert are retained in their grooves by special locking bolts to prevent longitudinal movement and accidental выпадение. A torsion spring, fixed at one end in a slot on the handle pin and at the other end to the jaw, provides automatic clamping of the pipe between the jaw die and the handle insert, while also preventing the wrench from slipping off a vertical pipe.
